JAX Vineyard's Block 3 has always produced the best fruit of our JAX Estate in northern Calistoga. This is an intense expression of our unique red rock, alluvial soil at the base of Mount Saint Helena. Making it's debut in the 2013 vintage, this wine earned 97 Parker points out of the gate.
Handpicked, sorted, and cold-soaked from the most prized rows in the third block of our Estate, the lush fruit profile is driven from clone 337 and rootstalk 101-14. This wine offers dark, concentrated depth and character. We suggest opening the bottle an hour prior to consumption such that the aromatics and expression opens and evolves. Having crafted merely 5 barrels, this wine is limited in production and sells out well before the next vintage is released. This wine is aged 28 months in New French Oak. This wine will drink well for 15+ years. *This wine ships in 6-pack cases. Grand Cru Classe / 125 cases
Aromas of fresh black cherry, cassis, and bay laurel leap from the glass, along with notes of cedar and cigar box. The palate is fresh and mouthwatering, bringing forth flavors of baked black plums, dark chocolate, graphite and anise. The well integrated tannins are full and coat the mouth, providing great structure and length. This wine is delicious now and will develop gracefully for decades to come.
